Gasification of Coal-petcoke Blends in a Pilot Scale Gasification Plant

چکیده
This paper investigates the synergistic interaction in a gasification of coal and petcoke blends in a 150 kWth pilot scale gasification plant. Petcoke was used either in combination with coal or separately to produce syngas in an atmospheric fluidized bed gasifier using air as gasifying agent. Syngas composition and carbon conversion efficiency were recorded and calculated. The results show that the increase in petcoke content in the fuel blend tends to lower the syngas composition. In addition, the carbon conversion efficiency also decreased with the increase in petcoke percentage in the blend. However, the conversion efficiency and syngas composition started to increase again when the petcoke percentage in the blend was more than 50%. As far as the mixture of coal and petcoke is concerned, optimum gasification efficiency was obtained at a 90:10 coal:petcoke blend. The lowest heating value was observed when the mixture was at 50:50. Therefore this mixture needs to be avoided when gasifying the coal: petcoke blend because it has the minimum gasification efficiency.

Co-gasification of different rank coals with biomass and petroleum coke in a high-pressure reactor for H(2)-rich gas production.
Four coals of different rank were gasified, using a steam/oxygen mixture as gasifying agent, at atmospheric and elevated pressure in a fixed bed reactor fitted with a solids feeding system in continuous mode. Independently of coal rank, an increase in gasification pressure led to a decrease in H(2) + CO production and carbon conversion. Gasification of the different rank coals revealed that the...

The effect of fuel composition on gasification process performance was investigated by performing mass and energy balances on a pre-pilot scale bubbling fluidized bed reactor fed with mixtures of plastic waste, wood, and coal. The fuels containing plastic waste produced less H2, CO, and CO2 and more light hydrocarbons than the fuels including biomass. The lower heating value (LHV) progressively...

Carbon Capture Technology
Executive Summary This report examines three different methods of carbon dioxide (CO 2) capture for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) systems for coal fired power plants. The purpose of this report is to compare the three distinct technologies for overall feasibility of large scale implementation on standard coal power plants. Many political and economic reasons have forced industries, inc...
